Material type: TextPublication details: 2018Dissertation note: Project paper (Bachelor of Computer Science ) - University Malaysia of Computer Science and Engineering, 2018. Summary: Augmented Reality (AR) has been one of the emerging trends nowadays. The concepts of AR have been used in various fields, including the educational purpose. Today, many social issues have increased among the young children in Malaysia which led kids to be judgemental, involve in bullying, and even committing suicide. One of the ways to cope with these problems is to inculcate empathy from younger age that would reduce aggressive behaviours, decrease racial prejudice and create good connection between people. Empathy, in a simple notation, means the ability to feel with other people, that allows an individual to understand the people around him/her. Since, today’s kids have been exposed to technologies at young ages, this project proposes an augmented reality mobile app and AR booklet focusing on developing cognitive empathy in young children aged 4-6 years old. The AR application can detect the target marker in the booklet and visualize the augmented reality’s content as an output. This project offers an innovative approach and an exciting way to learn prosocial values for the young children using AR book and tablet. The AR application provides the virtue learning in virtual environment and demonstrates various emphatic levels using a pedagogy verified by recognized specialists. The novelty of the project is it is tied to the Malaysia’s national curriculum for preschool education and is available in Malay language to support the local users. The significance of the project eventually helps the young children to develop their cognitive empathy to apply in their daily life. The results obtained via survey, interview and testing shows that there is a positive impact on using the AR application in fostering empathy in young children. The results are presented in pie chart form as the visuals to summarize the overall feedback by the young children after the testing session have been conducted.Item type | Current library | Collection | Call number | Status | Date due | Barcode | Item holds |

Augmented Reality (AR) has been one of the emerging trends nowadays. The concepts of AR have been used in various fields, including the educational purpose. Today, many social issues have increased among the young children in Malaysia which led kids to be judgemental, involve in bullying, and even committing suicide.
