By: Muhammad Hafizzul Mohd AzanMaterial type: TextTextPublication details: 2017Dissertation note: Project paper (Bachelor of Computer Science ) - University Malaysia of Computer Science and Engineering, 2017. Summary: Students in medical courses are having a very hard time to learn human parts and anatomy especially internal organ due to the traditional way of learning. Students do have problems getting real hands on learning tools such as corpse, dead people’s organs are time consuming and costly. The way of learning can be improved by implementing new technologies like virtual reality. There are many types of virtual reality technologies that are currently available in the world such as CAVE technology. To address this problems CAVE technology is used to improve the process of learning by modelling a part of human body. In this research, the human heart is modelled in 3D, presented virtually in CAVE environment. Therefore, ICUBE, a 3m x3m surround cube space with 4 walls that have individual projector to project the 3D models is chosen as the immersive virtual reality technology. This service is available at Institute of Visual Informatics, UKM. Interviews and research were conducted to gather information that required to solve the issues. An immersive interactive 3D human heart using ICUBE is develop using Autodesk Maya 2015 and 3ds Max 2015 and is demonstrated to support the learning purposes. The ICUBE projected the 3D model and using specialized goggle and making the project looked virtualized and can be moved around using a mouse. In conclusion, immersive interactive virtual reality can used to improve the process of learning.

Students in medical courses are having a very hard time to learn human parts and anatomy especially internal organ due to the traditional way of learning. Students do have problems getting real hands on learning tools such as corpse, dead people’s organs are time consuming and costly. The way of learning can be improved by implementing new technologies like virtual reality.
